The Joint Strike Fighter achieved another first yesterday–the first night flight in the history of the F-35 program. Lockheed Martin test pilot Mark Ward flew the F-35A conventional takeoff and landing (CTOL) variant, known as AF-06, from the flight test site at Edwards Air Force Base in California . AF-06 launched at 5:05 PM (Pacific Standard Time) and landed after sunset at 6:22 PM. All F-35 aircraft are assembled in Fort Worth, Texas.

Texas angler Matt Fletcher poses with a big Brazos River striped bass he caught last week while out with Kayak fishing guide Shane Davies. According to Davies, “Matt is looking at getting into kayak fishing, and he wanted to see what all the buzz is about.”
Looks like he found out — the 34 inch striper is twice the size of his previous personal best. Congratulations to Matt and Shane. (Photo by Shane Davies)
Today’s photo is a scenic sunset overlooking a lonely fishing pier at Baffin Bay. Located near the Gulf of Mexico, Baffin Bay is home to record speckled trout as well as red fish, drum and flounder. (Photo by Dan Rodriguez)
While spending a day on the middle Brazos River last week with Shane Davies, and I videotaped his client pulling in this pretty feisty little catfish. See below for the whole post.
