We promised some changes in 2018, one of them being more stories about my family. If you are a LSC regular then you already know my son Daniel, who is not only this blog’s primary photographer, but also my paddling companion on most of the trips chronicled here. You may not, however, know about my wife, Luisa, seen here in today’s POTD holding a nice Brazos bass that she recently caught.
Mind you, she didn’t used to fish much, even after Dan and I started kayak fishing in earnest, but priorities change, people evolve, and over time she’s slowly taken to spending more time outdoors with us, preferably on a body of water. She talks constantly about wanting to hit the river again. And she’s always hounding me for water release notices, so in a way, we created a monster.
She now enjoys being on the river just as much as we do; probably more, truth be told, because it’s still new to her. And she’s come along nicely. I wasn’t even around when she landed this pig; it was caught during a “girl’s day” on the river with her friend, who’d never fished before. They managed to catch several fish that day including a giant catfish and this bucket-mouth. She’s getting there…
